If you're seeing an error when trying to delete a file, it's likely because that file is attached to an active Problem or Invoice Reducer submission that hasn't reached a final status.
Why this restriction exists
Files on Loophole aren't just storage - they're evidence. When you attach a file to a Problem or submit it through Invoice Reducer, it becomes part of your strategy, your Tool Actions, and your case history. Deleting a file mid-case could:
Break references in drafted emails, letters, or call scripts
Remove evidence that Research Console or other tools need
Disrupt ongoing automation or scheduled actions
Remove the invoice file that Invoice Reducer is actively analyzing or negotiating
To protect your progress, Loophole prevents file deletion while the file is actively linked to an incomplete Problem or an in-progress Invoice Reducer submission.
How to delete the file
If the file is linked to a Problem:
Mark the Problem as solved
If your issue is resolved, mark the Problem as completed. Once completed, the file can be deleted.Delete the Problem entirely
If you no longer need the Problem at all, you can delete it. This will unlink the file and allow deletion.
If the file is linked to an Invoice Reducer submission:
Wait for completion
Once the submission reaches a final status (Completed, Refunded, or Not Reducible), the file can be deleted.Delete the Invoice Reducer submission entirely
If you no longer need the Invoice Reducer submission, you can delete it from the Invoice Reducer page. This will unlink the file and allow deletion.
Where to check
Go to your Files page and click on the file. You'll see which Problem(s) or Invoice Reducer submission(s) the file is attached to by clicking on the 'Linked' tab.
From there, you can navigate to the specific Problem Dashboard or Invoice Reducer page to manage it.
